Caring for your canvas

Caring for your canvas

When you buy from Cooee Canvas, you've not just buying a product, you're buying an investment. A bag that could potentially last a lifetime given the correct and proper care and maintenance.

When your package arrives you might find it to be a little stiff, the zips will be hard to open / close and the plastic will be creased. Don't break a sweat, there is absolutely nothing to worry about and this is 100% normal. Over time the canvas will soften and it will begin to take its proper shape, this normally takes anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. It will be a much quicker process if you pack out the bags to fill in their shape. The zips will also be easier to open once the seams have softened, until this time please take care to not pull to hard so that they break.

If your bags become dirty, just clean off any heavy debris with a brush and then wipe clean with a damp cloth. Avoid using soaps and detergents as this will affect the special hydrophobic coating that has been applied to the canvas.

Your canvas bags should be re-proofed every few years and you can use a reproofing spray. We use "Bradproof" from Bradmil Textiles, we do not sell this but it can be bought online.
